Default Mach 1 Fastback code questions

NOOB question but I'm always trying to learn more.... How can I tell the difference between a true '69-'71 MACH 1 or Boss over a fastback. I realize the VIN has an 02 or 05 for a fastback. Do the motor codes tell if its a true Mach 1 or Boss? Please help if you can.

Thanks,

It's different for each year, in '69 they used 02 for Mach 1's just like the fastback. As for engine codes G will be a Boss 302 Z will be Boss 429. There are other things you can look at such as shock tower reinforcement and staggered rear shocks for Bosses or a deluxe interior and exterior trim for the Mach's.

So is there a way to tell the difference between a 1969 Mach 1 and a regular fastback in the VIN? Either engine code or body code?

Thanks

Not from the VIN, but the Body Type will be 63A for a Fastback, 63C for a Mach 1. If it has engine code T, L, or F it is not a Mach 1.
