Default Scott Drake...Worth the money?

I am in the process of a complete restoration and I wanted to ask if the people on this forum think that Scott Drake parts are worth the money.

I understand that the Scott Drake catalog is extensive but I am just trying to get a general sense of both the quality of the parts and the customer service as it correlates to the price.

In the past I have been fortunate enough to use OEM, and occassionally, NOS parts...but those days are gone.

I plan to order a number of different parts and would prefer to go through one vendor. I am willing to pay more for quality reproduction parts but just like everyone else on this forum I am doing my best to stay within a budget.

Thank you for the feedback.

Scott Drake is only a merchant, not a manufacturer. They get parts from different sources, so quality can differ.

Most of the SD parts I've gotten are interior parts and accessories. Most of these parts are great. The gas cap I got is no dif than NOS, but the arm rests don't really line up flush and, unlike the soft padding that the NOS has, the SD armrest feels like hard rubber.

They have a decent return policy if something doesn't work out. Also, they will have stuff like console parts you won't find anywhere.

Good luck.

I have used several parts so far, with pleased results. I use them mostly because my local mustang shop pretty much only sells SD, their walls are red and white...

I didn't really think that it is possible to order from SD direct.

I have purchased a number of various SD parts from places such as Virginia Classic Mustang or John's Mustang here in Houston and have not had any complaints.

The one reproduction piece that I was very disappointed in was the fit of the kick panels I ordered but I can't recall if those were SD or not.

I have heard that repop doors, fenders, etc can be a very big problem but have never tested the theory.

IMO, Dynacorn sheet metal, TMI interior, and Scott Drake trim pieces are about the best fit you can get, but none of them are as good as original Ford parts.

I learn something new all the time. I always thought Scott Drake was the manufacturer.

Scott Drake does make the valve covers it has their name on the mold (or at least know how they are manufactured) They provide good tech help
The valve covers fit great and didn't leak oil once i got them tight enough.
