No idea if this is a legit K-code or not but someone claims to be selling a 64 1/2 convertible K-code that had a concourse resto.
Only down side is I hope you have been saving your pennies :-)

THIS IS THE HIGH PERFORMANCE 289 CU.IN. 271 H.P. WITH SOLID LIFTERS, TOP LOADER 4 SPEED AND 9 IN REAREND. THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE THAT CARROLL SHELBY USED IN HIS SHELBYS WITH SOME MODIFICATION. FIRST ONE TO BE BUILT WAS JUNE 8 1964 AND MINE WAS BUILT JUNE 13 1964. REGISTERED IN THE FORD MUSTANG REGISTRY AS ONE OF 3 KNOWN TO EXIST.DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES UPON REQUEST. It also has a rally pac and I thought that didn't come out until 65. Hey, it has to have the K engine code stamped on top of the inner fender and in the title. If it has those, it is good enough for me. Hell, at $85k I won't be driving it anyway!

That was the way I always understood it to be honeygold.
Story I heard is that people were so excited about it that they released some of the '65's early and folks started calling them 64 1/2's
