They paid as much or more for serial number 1 for the new Shelby Mustang.

They may not be TOO crazy. The first 55 Tbird sold for $660,000.

The first ZR-1 went for a million. Although, that confuses me because Leno claims to have number 1 on jaylenosgarage.com. Maybe the million dollar one was serial 000.
