Default Here's some pics:

The problem here is that when the carpet sits in the correct position on the floorpan, there is too much material that goes over the tranny tunnel. As you can see, the carpet sits almost an inch above the shifter boot and all along the tunnel. This picture doesn't do it justice, but its like the part that goes over the tunnel needs to be shrunk, Also, there is a big bump shown by the arrows.

This picture shows the bumps that won't flatten and impedes the movement of the acc pedal.

Spray adhesive is a good idea, start in the middle at the tranny hump. Make sure you spray both the floor and the backside of the carpet. Let it get tacky before you lay it down. Work from the middle out towards the doors, this stuff is very stiff when new and will flatten out over time.

I use adhesive on the insulation and the carpet. Don't go crazy. Just use enough to get it to stick in the areas that are difficult to get the right contures (tunnel at the floor, toe pans, sill, etc.). I also strongly recommend a respirator (canister mask). The adhesive spray is some nasty stuff.

I would, but just enough to hold it down in pace. If you need to reposition anything, you'll be able to. Heat will help but it is the middle of winter!

Did you heat the carpet up? Some places recommend heating it up before putting it in the car so that it molds to the floor.

Looking at the pictures....mine had a spot or two like that when we first installed it...but after a week or so it settled down and molded into place.

Around the gear shift...just trim it some with a razor if needed.

Heat might work just don't burn it.

So I spent the rest of the weekend trying to work the carpet into place with a hair dryer, a clothing steamer and some adhesive. I have now gotten the tunnel mostly into postition and gotten the major bumps down. There are still a couple smaller bumps on the tunnel near to where the front carpet overlaps the rear carpet, but I will try working the same combination of heat, steam and adhesive to get that worked out. When I first put this carpet in, I thought there was no way I would even be able to get it close to fitting, but after working it, I'm amazed at how it looks. It will be far from perfect, but it's starting to look pretty good.

Thanks for the help guys. I will post pics when I'm done. I have already recovered my seats, so after I finish the carpet, I'll put seats in and finish some of the smaller details.

Question though--

Judging from the pictures, you only need to give it a little time. I think those minor humps will go away in a week or two.
