Dropping Classic Prices

My dad and maybe me are going to look at a 70 coupe over the weekend. Wants 7K, been on Ebay 3 times every buyer has backed out before looking.
Its a 302 auto, mineral gray look, sunroof, front and rear spoilers, black interior, and some weird aftermarket fog lights that will have to go if we buy it.

It is here. I paid 5500 for my 67 I6 almost 2 years ago. V8s around here sell for about 7-10K. I'll try to find pics.
EDIT: here is the ad. It says 7900, but he will take less since his ebay reserve was 6500.

True. I paid 5500 in 07 for a number matching I6 mostly original 67 coupe. My friends parents paid 12K for a 68 non original V8 same year but like 5 months later. Friend thinks his car is great even though they have put about 2K in parts due to it messing up. I have put about 1.5K in mods.
He just spent like 700 on discs because he drives too fast and has to brake hard so sometimes he locks them up.

BA that car seems nice if you can get it for 6 something. But I guess I was spoiled for V8 prices in Detroit, I picked my original 289 C Code up for 4k about a year and a half ago but then again our economy has been depressed for awhile longer, a few decades longer.
Now I can't stay off craigslist looking for a fastback or vert, I have a problem, I'm an addict.

Thats why I will wait until summer to find another one. Give them a few months to realize what they got themselves into and regret their decision.

i wouldnt mind finding an old firebird/TA but i dont have anywhere to keep it or work on it.
how would their profit margin get larger? if anything it would get smaller.
think about it. a year ago the store bought X product for $5 and sold it for $10.
now the store bought a shipmetn of X product at $10 and sold it for $15.
if their cost goes down to $5 they still have stock that was bought at $10. so if they lower the price back to $10 becuase their cost is now $5. they would actually be losing money becuase the stock being sold for $10 is stock they paid $10 for themselves a few months ago.
I believe those are referred to as "sticky prices." Kinda like the grocery store and how the prices shot up when gas was $4 a gallon but as you see the gas get back down to $1.50ish you dont see the prices in the store fall even though their profit margins get bigger. It would take a lot more to make them go down, if ever, then it does to go up. You would have to hope for a competitor to start dropping prices for the others to do the same.
