Steering Woes
once my car hits about 70ish, its hard to keep her on the road. There is no play in the steering wheel so its all in the front suspension/steering box. What would be the first to check/replace? This car is a driver, no where near factory so if there are better parts out there let me know.
specs:
power steering
factory everything (45 yrs old at that)

45 years old? Everything!
I would get a suspension and steering kit and replace those old springs while you are at it. Replace the upper and lower arms (not just the ball joints), tie rods, strut rod bushings, and idler arm bushing.

Spring perches also.
Keep in mind that while your car will be safer and ride better and faster, it will be a bit taller when you replace springs and perches.
