Default What color is your transmission?

So I'm in the process of reassembling my '66 after about 6 months of restoration and paint. The engine bay is freshly painted as is the engine, and the whole undercarriage of the car has been freshened up. My dilemma now is the transmission. I think it would be an eye sore if i just stuck it back in as is, so my question is what color should i paint it? I'm torn between a semi-gloss black or a cast-iron look paint. Also, should i paint the bellhousing or just polish and clear it?

mine is painted all silver, with black hardware and pan...
this was done by a transmission shop, and the guy who did it restores cars,
this scheme looks good to me, the correctness to the vehicle...i dont know or care

Mine was covered in oil and grease so I don't know what color it was.

Mine's a slightly different shade..."greasy dirt and crap." The "greasy" adds that subtle shine which is just so hard to find these days. I've been thinking about painting it Mauve or Fuscia, except I'm not sure if those are real colors even though my wife says they are.

But yes, paint it silver.
