Default 65 rear end swap???? Help

hey guys!!

I when out of state and picked up my 2nd pony car =) !!!! 65 mustang.... originally with a 289 2barrel carb.... c4 trans, 8'' rear.
Well it didn't come with that because the guy i bought it from decided to swap everything to his other mustang that was a I6. So now the 65 I have has a I6 and 7.25'' rear.

Now I'm in search for a rear end. I don't want 5 lugs in the front and 4 in that back. who would =p
I want to put a 8.8 in the rear. My question is... what car can I get it from to have a direct swap or somewhat possible swap..??

Why do you want it to be 4 lug?

Just get an 8 inch for the rear and Granada front disc brakes and make it 5 lug.

You could also get a Versailles rear end.

To find parts try ebay or craigslist. You could also put up a WTB ad on craigslist.

The 64-66 8" rear is not hard to get. I know a shop that could ship you one, no problem. PM me if you want more info. Adapting the 8.8 is a known quantity, but requires some real expertize, and you'll need the Motorsport kit to change to 5-bolt, which all by itself will cost almost as much as an 8" axle.

A Versailles rear end is a 77-80 I think is the years it was made Lincoln Versailles. Its a 9 inch rear. You can also get a 9 inch from the same era Ford Granada. Thats also the car that you can get the spindles and front brakes from. The Granada front disc brake bolt right in the Mustang.

I have both of these setups on my 65. It is a good setup and i am happy with it.

I have some more links for Granada and Versailles stuff if you need them.
