I bought a brand new top boot on EBay for a good price but it is dark blue and I plan to dye it black. I will have to install the snaps to match the ones on the car.

Given that the boot is flexible, do you think I should:

1) Install the snaps, put it on the car, and dye it in place (stretched) or

2) Dye it, then install the snaps, then just put it on the car.

I can't decide whether the dye will bunch up in #1 when I take the boot off, or crack when stretched to put it on in #2.

Also, does anyone have good instructions on how to install the snaps on the boot?
