I think that just having a running, driving, classic mustang is all that matters.. I drove my 69 for about a year with no passenger seat, carpet, or headliner, and half of the dash missing.. Not to mention that the thing was a pretty ugly green with a rusting white top..

I loved every minute of it, and still got the "hey nice car" compliments.. I usually just shrug off the "you should put a 351 HEMI in there" type comments, its not worth the time. Its kind of on the same line of the cat comments.. Like was said before.. Its my car, and I do what I like to it, I appreciate the comments, good or bad.. The bad ones just make me like my car even more, because deep down I know that the guy that made the stupid remark is really just envious..

Ignore the people who say you should do whatever, its your car. If you ask for advice or information that is different. I am 40, I have had the Cougar since I was 13, and I got a lot of that over the years. People telling me to build it to run 9s and silly stuff like that. While it sat waiting for me to have the time to rebuild it, I had a ton of people telling me I should give it to them, or sell it cheap because I would never get to it and it would only rot away. Yeah that turned out exactly how they said it would... its why its shiny red right now instead of covered in primer and two inches of dust.

The most annoying thing people still tell me is to put a 350 chevy in whatever I have, because it will go faster. They tell me to pull the 450+hp/500tq 455 from my GTO and put a 350 in it, and it will cost less to go fast. Doesnt matter that I only have $1500 in that engine, or that I would have to change everything under the hood, the transmission, and add deep gears so the little motor could move the car. Then they try to tell me I should build a 383 instead of the 700hp 462ci Pontiac stroker I have, because it would be faster for cheap. I wish I got paid each time I beat a chevy 350 with any other engine, I could build some serious stuff.

The point is their economics dont add up, and most people dont know s*** about f*** when it comes to cars and what we should actually do with them. To them a Nissan 4x4 with a 4 cylinder is probably fast.

Wow dude, comments like that... Taking out an engine from a Chevy and putting it in a ford dodge or whatever... and taking an already powerful engine and putting a less powerful engine in it... in my book would deserve an automatic slap in the face... lol If someone told me to put a chevy engine in my Mustang I would slap them in the face... Though I will say where I live the small town most everyone has a Silverado... so...

The only thing I would put a 350 in is a Chevy... and a 1978 Datsun 280z... because they make kits for it and I've always wanted a 280z with a V8... It reminds me somewhat of a Shelby Cobra Coupe.... Though that could just be me... I mean, I do know alot about Chevy engines... But for American Muscle... fords should stay in fords and chevys should stay in chevys... Chevy's can go in Imports though, that's cool =P Cuz it makes them sound better and people don't expect it.
