That one was in good shape, nearly a show car compared to the PoD. The thing about a 71-73 build on the scale of that one and mine is you need to be able to make the parts you cant buy, or repair them. I had rust in the door jamb that I had to fix before I could put the quarter on. I made the patch out of a strip of quarter panel I cut off the car trimming it to fit the replacement metal.
I started finish welding the pass side quarter on last night, its going to take some filler to make it look right but that isnt unusual. It wont be more than a 1/16" thick but it will cover a huge area...
The other thing about the yellow car is it is a 429 SCJ, not a pedestrian 351C 2V. That one has value, whereas mine doesnt. So maybe I will make some cash from this, maybe I will just have an old Mustang that I know very intimately.

As promised... here are pics of what I have gotten done yesterday and today. Its a pain fitting all of the new metal to the old rusted stuff that is missing important chunks and sections. The angle grinder, mig welder, and my body hammers and dollies are getting a severe workout doing this.
Pass side quarter welded up, I need to adjust the gaps on the door before I weld up the jamb, but the wheel well and top of the quarter are finished. Just a few more spots to go.
Drivers side wheel well welded in. Doing the other side is easier because I know how it goes together. I will put the quarter on tomorrow.
The roof, top part of the quarters, frame rails front and rear, shock towers, door jambs, rocker panels, and parts of the cowl are the only parts I havent changed or that dont need changed. All welds are butt welds on exterior metal, it varies on parts not seen.
I cant sleep tonight, so I probably wont get out in the shop before 2pm tomorrow... Its ok, I have all day. I can work till midnight if I feel like it. Usually i can get about 3 or 4 hours a day in and I can go for two or three days, sometimes four if I am not standing much. I wish I had my 19 year old body back and I could keep my experience, knowledge, and equipment...
This is the car I did last month. I bought a gallon of paint for it and the rest was stuff I had laying around..lol. I dont think I want to paint another yellow car, this one made my eyes ache. Check out the build progress if you like here
Got some work done, not finish welded yet, but its on there straight enough for me. After I get most of the welding done, I am building a rotisserie so I can take it next door and use the commercial blaster my neighbor has. Not really next door, hes a mile away, but still its better than going to Green Bay.

Thumpin.. Whats with all of the other cars out there in the background of the yellow firebird on your photobucket account? Do you just turn around cars and sell them or what? '
BTW you do some great work!

Some I am going to sell, but the GTOs, all the Trans Ams and Formula birds, and a few others are cars I am building for myself. The 65 GTO is for my father in law, I am building it for him as my way of repaying him for the help he has given me since I got out of the USAF. Some cars in the yard are winter beaters, like Intrepids and 4x4 F150s. They are just for winter driving so my good stuff doesnt rust from salt.
This one is the drag car, the 700hp 467 Pontiac is on its way back for it now. Cant wait to run this thing again, might paint it this winter while I do the updates for the two seconds its losing in ET...
