Stillboardin

I have been trying to find info on marks that the factory put in the engine compartment. Here is a picture of the underside of my hood. This is a 68 coupe built in San Jose in August of 67. I have owned this car since 1981 and I believe we bought it from the original owner. The hood is original I believe but had been repaired at some point before we bought it.

Does anyone know what these marks mean? Could the 71 mean a repair panel built in 71?
