I'll have to look closer at them next time I am out in the garage.
It would not surprise me in the least to find out the kid that used to own the car used the wrong badges and seems like he had mentioned something about replacing a lot of the chrome and badges, etc not long before deciding to sell it. Sure wouldn't be the first thing he had done something screwed up like that. Don't know if I would have ever noticed so thanks for pointing it out.
However, my guess is I might be wise at this point to wait until I eventually get the car painted. Just thinking the paint might be less faded or whatever under the emblem.

I don't think it's so much messing up and putting the wrong badges as a choice made that way. I can easily see someone choosing to go with fender badges with the engine size just to help cut down on the "what's in it?" questions. I know I got fed up with them and put a new big orange "302" sticker on my air cleaner.

There are a number of dents and dings, the hood has a really good dent on the very front of it. The front pieces of the car have a lot of spots with rock chips. The front corner of the passenger's side door has a fairly large rust area. The drivers door is better but still has some rust in the front corner also and on the bottom side of the door and things of that nature.
Last year, I did get a friend of mine to paint the roof, the trunk and the back. The drip rails had some heavy surface rust in them. It looked horrible but I wasn't so much worried about that really. I wanted to stop it while it was still just heavy surface rust to prevent having to find a donor car for a new roof later. But with 14+ year old faded paint you end up having to paint a good chunk of the car to blend in things.
