Restore it or RestoMod ???
#21
Of course there are some people who love their sixes, for whatever reason. But I suspect in the resale market the V8s will win out. It was meant as a general statement.
I don't think Houtex is on here. I've told him about it though.

I love my six.
The six cylinders of today sound and feel no where near as good as these Ford 200 inline-sixes. But like BA Mustang has said, let people do swaps all they want. I'll keep my original six in my car and if I need to, get my thrills from my 94 5.0.

some people build beautiful cars with V8s... others write checks for them. everyone else either doesnt have a car, or they want a better one
Bent sixes sound different than straight sixes but they all have a certain buzz to them. All sixes sound better than fours. V8s sound the best, unless you are talking Allison or Merlin..
This thread really isnt helping you decide if you want to keep the car original or swap it to bigger stuff.

Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback. I admire the originality of the car and hate to mess it up after it's survived thus far, but I'm gonna go resto-mod, but keep all the original parts and do bolt on changes, just incase some one 40 years from now decides they want to restore it back to original.
I rolled it over into my shop today and started to work on it. I excpect this to be about a 4 year project, but I'll keep ya'll posted on the progress.
Also, this is my first Mustang restoration, so I'll probably be on here asking alot of questions.

I have a 68... and I'm doing to it what I want to it! The question comes down to what you want. You want modern Convenience with Classic I'll beat your *** in a race look... GO FOR IT!! By all means, It will be expected anyway being a Classic mustang *especially if your a young guy* That your car will have power, and an I6 doesn't have much, that lil Honda will probably give you a run MAYBE. But really... Do what you want with it, It's a base line, nothing spiffy bottom of the basic I6 With no options. Make it what your dreams tell you!
Tell ya what, IMO Those rear louvers look pretty damn spiffy! *Just an example of my own thing*
*Yay for posting and not reading the final post! FTW*

Make it your own!! What ever you want to do to it, you can.. All it takes is a little know how and some cash, or both.. Thats all that matters. I just cant believe you got it for $1500 thats just crazy. I would have picked it up at that price anyday..
