Default The top 10 Clunkers for Cash

The list is out and the Ford Explorer takes 6 of the top 10 spots. Does that mean they were crap or that they were so good there were still lots of them out there?

To make it fun lets take a poll of what we would have liked to see in the top 10.

The REAL Top Ten Cash for Clunkers Trade-Ins:
1. 1998 Ford Explorer
2. 1997 Ford Explorer
3. 1996 Ford Explorer
4. 1999 Ford Explorer
5. Jeep Grand Cherokee
6. Jeep Cherokee
7. 1995 Ford Explorer
8. 1994 Ford Explorer
9. 1997 Ford Windstar
10. 1999 Dodge Caravan

I think there was a boatload of explorer's built, and still is. I would like to see any minivan in the top.

I have a 91 exploder and I would love to get rid of it. They are tranny eating machines. I have owned it since 2002 and am on the 3rd tranny. I also get about 8 miles to the gallon with a V6. doesn't help that I have a healthy lift and bigger tires.

I think that so many Exploders made the list because they were poplular and there are alot of them out there.

I voted for ricers, but they are actually economical cars, so they don't apply.

My second vote would be for this.

Obama's presidential limo and related fleet of secret service SUVs

I voted for the pontiac aztek, god that thing is ugly. It would sure go to the crusher though because no salvage yard in their right mind would buy that up to sell the parts.

But I would have to agree that the ford explorer was very popular and driven a lot and are therefore breaking down 10-15 years later. My friend has a 94 ford explorer (eddie bauer edition) and it actually is still a decent car, except for when trying to add a new sound system, pain in the a$$!

Only sad thing about the explorers leaving though is a lot of them probably had the 5.0 engine like my friend's has.

Poor little engine. Trying so desperately to live as the poison circulates though it cylinders and it's mercilessly revved over and over and over again in spite of it's gut wrenching screams. The little guy held on to the very end.

Oh, the horror of the death wail!!! And then it puked up it's guts in the end! Couldn't they just shoot it?

How come there aren't any Asian or European cars on the list?
