Default emblem holes

I am hoping to start preping my 67 for paint real soon and I will be removing every emblem, letter, and rocker panel molding clip on the mustang. My question is how to cover/fill in those holes? I don't want to bondo them because I know you can break the bondo and the holes reappear. Could I weld them shut, grind down the weld and then bondo? What would you guys/girls recommend?

I would personally use a body filler. I don't think there is enough flex to cause problems and the holes are small enough to prevent the filler from breaking free.

you can always fill them with a welder if you have one.

just do a couple small tack welds to fill the hole and then file down

edit:

if you do a good enough job you wont have to use a body filler and will be able to get away with a filler primer then an epoxy primer to seal it

I would say either rout would be fine. If you ever plan to put the emblems back on then body filler would be easier to re drill and it would help you place them where they belong.

I would use body filler, but on my dads 64 gmc pickup we did that on a fender and one of the holes had the bondo break and now has the hole again.

I don't plan on ever putting emblems back on.

I think I will try welding since we have one here and my grandfather also does.

Weld them, but be careful not to warp the panel.

Normal plastic filler will pop out over time.Welding it is fine but do it slowly. If you use metal to metal its a filler with metal in it will stay in the holes or lead will stay too.

I welded mine on the Cougar, isnt really that difficult. A bit of copper sheet behind the panel helps a bunch, Tack one side then the other, keep the tip perpendicular to the metal and it comes out nice

you can not put filler over the holes, you must close them up either by welding or you can use a fiberglass patch

fixing small trim holes with glass is super easy, grind off the paint with 36-80 grit paper, take a pick hammer and hit the center of the trim hole slightly to make the surface slightly recessed. next you need a small patch and resin apply your patch let dry sand down thin wipe with filler prime, block prime block done :P

simply grind down the
