Thanks; it will be fun and another learning experience.
Here is a Fiero I restored and finished last spring. I painted it and did the upholstery too along with all the mechanicals. Fiero is gone now Mustang is up.

Welcome to the forum. That Fiero is kinda cool. It looks great. I don't see many of them around here anymore. There are 2 that look alot like yours and both are red that are in nice shape. The rest I have seen were not so lucky.

As far as you engine goes, I would rebuilt it as a whole, since you don't really know the history of it.

Welcome!

I just recently helped my neighbor up the street sell a Fiero similar to that one that had been sitting in his garage for about 4 or 5 years. I got sick of him trying to talk me into buying it from him so I went out and found him a buyer, LOL! You don't see many of them around any more because a lot of folks use them for kit cars.

On your motor, if it were me....I'd just go ahead and rebuild it. That is the decision I have made on mine since I don't really know the history. Actually, mine is not numbers matching so I am simply going to replace it. Then again, I am looking to add horsepower so that has a good deal to do with my decision also.

Since I never rebuilt a motor before I am a little hesitant. It would have to come out, I can buy a cherry picker and stand at Harbor Freight, or I could have it done or buy a rebuilt.

I was told it is about $2000.00 to have one rebuilt from two vendors here in Tucson. This seems expensive and is why I consider a rebuilt and to use mine as a core.

And then there is the trans, not sure about the history on that either.
