Default OT: .... what to do in Florida?

Hi all,

i'll be in florida for a few days on my way to Jamaica. although i would have loved to meet up with a few of you there my girlfriend put her foot down. she's sick of petrol talk :-)
However I'll defiently go over to NPD (they're quite close to orlando where I'll land)
Summit and Jegs unfortunately don't have a store there.
I hired a Mustang convertible (on of the new ones from budget) to travel in style.

Anything else I should do while i'm there (and my girlfriend might tolerate)?

Kalli

You're from Ireland and going to be in Florida. One thing you will do is sweat, most probably profusely. There is always the theme parks you can go to if she is into huge crowds, long lines, and the same music being played over and over and over and over and over and over and... you get the idea.

I avoid Florida, but Jamaica sounds quite nice, especially since its 35F outside.

Depends on what you like to do. NPD is located in Ocala, FL just over an hour north of Orlando. It is right off of I-75 so it's very easy to find. I live about 10 minutes from it. If you are into nature, one cool thing to do while you are in Ocala is to check out Silver Springs. They are famous for their glass-bottom boats and it is also where a lot of older movies, including Tarzan were filmed. If you are more into partying you might as well stay in Orlando because Ocala is more of a laid back town. I wouldn't recommend any of the large amusement parks unless you really want to. They are very overpriced and not worth it unless you have wanted to go since you were a kid and this is your one time chance. Let me know what you like to do and I can give you some info on where to go. When are you coming over?

77, I can't believe I forgot to tell him about Don Garlit's. I took my in-laws there earlier this year and we had a great time. You are right, there is a crap-load of cars there and they all have a place in racing history. Truly a place to see while in FL.

I live in Ocala on the NE side close to Silver Springs. If you are familiar with the area, I live behind Booster Stadium where Vanguard High School has it's football games.

The Kennedy Space Center is a couple hours drive. Pretty cool if you've never been there.

Don't forget Daytona. Not the beach, but the track. They give tours and it is pretty interesting. Last time I went they were testing new motorcycles (Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Ducati, etc...) around the track. They were hauling arse around that track! It was awesome!!!
