Talking New Air Cleaner

I got a Ford Racing air cleaner that matches the valve covers. I think it looks awesome.

I noticed that it shows up more in the camera flash than it usually does. What can I do to keep the master cylinder looking good? I was thinking about wiping it down with WD40.

My brand new MC rusted over just like yours within 3 weeks of install. I painted mine with black POR-15.
That air cleaner looks great (I have the exact same one on my car).
Now paint that MC so it looks as good as the rest of the engine bay!

Yeah, the MC is brand new too. It started looking like that within about 2 months.

I looked at your album. Your car looks great.

I can't believe that Ford Racing doesn't make our air cleaner anymore. I had a hard time finding it. One finally showed up on Ebay. They make the oval one that looks like a dual quad setup that fits the single 4 barrel. I didn't want that one. I like the round better. It would be cool if it had a running pony on it instead of the script.

I definitely need to do something about the MC.

I honestly did not even notice that the springs were looking that bad already until this picture. In the daylight the look alright.

The springs are brand new as well. They are actually for a fiberglass hood. Thats an interesting story. I had some hinge problems. The springs were too stiff and would collapse the new hinges. So, I had to replace them agian. The replacement springs were so stiff that one would hold the hood up by itself. The fiberglass hood springs are too weak to hold the hood up, so I now have a Shelby style prop rod. I left to springs on because it looks better and it will keep the hood from slamming shut if the prop is knocked out.

I don't know if they offer a powder coated version of the springs or MC.
I guess if you like the unprotected look you could just clear coat them.
