NICE my dads friend has a 65 mustang all orginal looking a little like this but way worse in the inside and it was orginally by him in 65 so were working on getting it to top shape again. Nice car though not that much rust from what i can see but like i said from what i can see. Have fun!
Restore? Restomod? Slight mods? Not 100% on all the lingo but I think Restomod?
We want to keep the integrity of the car but are going to be adding new technology to it (modern stereo, AC, etc) and give the car a meaner look (bigger/wider tires in the back, etc).
The 289 needs to be re-built but we still have to settle on using the c4 automatic tranny that comes with it or going to manual shift, what color to paint the car, and 1000 other details that are still up in the air...I get tired thinking about it already :-)
Tired? With a car that appears to be solid you are tired? Thanks for the levity today, it is most welcome.. If you want to see tired, click the POD link in my sig, that 71 makes almost anyone feel good about the car they have. You might find some of the Cougar pics interesting, since it too is a 67.
Why not keep the C4? They are good transmissions and with a little work they can be fun to drive plus you already have it.
Welcome to the club, and if you have questions just ask because someone here will know.
Welcome. Looks like a fun project. Take your time with it. Sit back and imagine what you want out of it. Then, take LOTS of pics of it (you'll need those later). Don't think you are taking too many...you'll need them when you wonder how something went together. Then tear into it and clean it up. Make a plan. Do things in stages. Plan what you can do and what you need to let someone else do. The more you can do yourself, the less it will cost. Also look for clubs in your area, they can be a big help, as well as a lot of fun. Let all that want to, get involved in it. It will get depressing at times but, you have to work through that and it will pay off in the end. Everyone is here to help so, don't be afraid to ask...dumb questions.

Congrats, at least with no carpet you have a good idea of how much of a project your getting into, read too many posts of new owners finding practically no floorboards/frame/torque boxes because they didn't look under the carpets.
I think I'd finish stripping and send it to a blaster at that stage, wish I would have taken mine all the way down now, harder to prep section by section and usually costs more than blasting the hole thing at once.
