Thumbs down Venting (Barry Grant Junk)

Two years ago, while installing my new stroker, I upgraded the fuel system to all Barry Grant stuff and all plumbing to braided line and AN fittings. Over the past two years, every single BG component has failed or become unreliable. I always thought they were a quality manufacturer, but I have not seen it. I could understand one part failing, but the pump, regulator, filter, and fuel log have all had issues. Barry Grant offered to repair the items, but I have lost total faith in their company.

Long story short, I am ripping it all out this weekend and putting in Aeromotive stuff. An expensive lesson, but hopefully I can spread the word and save some of you some money and headaches.

Interesting. I heard they had some quality control issues a while back, but I was under the impression that they had improved lately.

First, fuel log leaked and still leaks at random times. I have had it apart and the O-ring just does not seal correctly. I have just lived with it because they are so expensive. Second the regulator came with the guts broken. The replacement worked fine though. Third, the pump was super loud, which was only really annoying while in traffic, but the bypass would trip and I would lose pressure to the regulator at random times. I got scared of running lean, so I dumped it for a cheap Holley plus it stranded me several times when it would not stop bypassing all the fuel. Fourth, the filter O-ring setup is totally ghetto and makes it a big pain to install new filters, even with the fuel not running down your arm. The straw that broke my back was the replacement regulator will randomly regulate at either 11psi or 4 psi with the adjustment not doing anything. I took it all apart and cleaned it. Now it regulates between 9 and 15psi.

I finally gave up and plan to install an Aeromotive SS pump, 100 and 10 mic filter, bypass regulator, and an Aeromotive fuel log. I would have installed the in tank sump A1000, but I have already installed a sump in this tank and do not feel like buying another tank and welding in the new Aeromotive pump sump combo, although they look and sound like a great idea.

Anyway, I feel a little better now, but wish I had that money back that I spent with BG!
