Default 1968 VIN LOCATION need help

OK I picked up a 1968 mustang and i know it has a VIN on the passenger side of the dash
witch by the way snapped off in my dads hand messing with the new dash cover.. So question 1 how do i get a new VIN tag? And 2 there was a piece of metal in the car that has the VIN stamped on it ... this car shows signs of being in a wreck many years ago and i think they replaced some of the inner structure of the car and never welded this back in so Question where does the stamped one go?

You don't, legally. I would epoxy the tag back together with JB Weld, install the dash pad, and pretend it never happened.

Probably as front fender apron, as already stated. Since there wasn't one visible on the 68, no one will notice it's missing.

Here http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xzht_ppgu8...h/IMG_1237.JPG the one on the passenger side you have to loosen or take the fender off to see make sure every vin on it match's each other and your title.
