Is that a ram air system of sorts?
The air cleaner base plate is why I ask.
That big hood scoop is killer.

Nevermind, it's been answered I think.

Don't be surpised if you don't get an answer on a 3 year old thread.

I think it's for room so the air cleaner can clear the top of the scoop, lol!

Did I see this car go across the block at Mecum last month in Fla?

The air claener base was custom made to fit level with the hood. The air cleaner did seal up to the scoop for a ram air isolated fit. I think you could do the same thing by using a larger base with a smaller filter and having a rubber seal that fits on the outer part of the base.

I sold the car on ebay shortly after building. That owner sold it at Barrett Jackson in Florida. The new owner has taken it to Mecum 3 times without selling. It went to 120,000 in Dallas.

I am building another one but using TCI front end this time and Detroit speed rear suspension. Same engine but a beefed up 5 speed. Also using an under dash braking master cylinder to clean up engine compartment. Hopefully it will be done next year. These cars cost $$$$$$$. Unfortunately.

Another awesome build. You are right about that hood scoop being quite monstrous.
