Some low life went down the entire passenger side of my metallic red 05 Mustang Saturday with key or pen or some similar object, leaving a white scratch all the way. My wife says it is barely noticable. To me, it looks like someone used a chain saw on it.
So now I have a choice to pony up a $500 deductible to get "fixed" or I just live with it. I am certain that at best the insurance company's idea of a repair is to paint just that side. That will probably look worse than it does now, considering the almost certain color mismatch. Plus, they will probably raise my rates to cover their costs anyway.

That sucks man. Speaking of evil people, I helped the police catch some what appeared to be shoplifters just a few hours ago trying to hide in our apartment complex.
try one of those scratch removers you see on tv all the time?

Theres this stuff from Meguiars called Scratch X2.0 and it worked wonders my dads black mustang gt thathad a simlar scratch down the side idk if it is a deep scratch but we used when we were done washing the car once and used 3 times after then then eventually it just seems like it disappeared. If not then like they said some wax compound.
Scratch X's and the like only mask the problem. To really get rid of it you need to polish/compound and possibly even wet sand the scratch out. Take your finger nail and run it over the scratch, can you catch the scratch with your nail? If you can't catch it, then there's hope. If you can catch it, there's little chance of saving the paint.
