Now that I can see them . . . and I'm hoping that the "245/40" is accurate information here as I'm not entirely convinced after blowing the pictures up in PhotoEditor . . . I think that a better choice of 245/40 could have been made. One with a wider tread width. Not all 245/40's are the same width either at the widest part of the sidewalls (section width) or at the tread. A narrow 245 tire like what is the best I'm looking at in your picture may be no wider than a "normal-width" 235 and still fit within industry dimensional tolerances. And small-sounding differences in width tend to become larger appearance-wise because it visually shows up in the dimensionally small tire bulge (or lack thereof) rather than being seen relative to the much larger entire tire width dimension. A wide 225/40 might not look much different.

Not everbody can live with as little protection for their wheels against curb scrapes and such as those have. I've been able to, as has my wife. But a casual poll looking at sidewall scuffing in any large parking lot will demonstrate that many people cannot. Hopefully, you'll be able to.

On edit, I suppose that it's possible for those wheels to have an unusually thick outer flange or a flange contour that exaggerates the "stretched" appearance still further.

its amzing what a typo can escalate to. 235-40-r18 is the correct measuring. ive been away from home and used my phone to send that on. sorry about that guys.

i got the tire like this because of the lack of bulge falling on the outside of the rim. there is a extra lip of rubber near the rim wall to make it match up and look even.

the backspacing on these is 6.5 inches. i had to get 1.5 in spacers in the back and 1 in spacers in the front. and to be honest im not sure why i didnt have to roll the back flares, i might do it anyways in the future.

and for those who like them, im glad. those who the gt500 rims just arnt their cup of tea, especially on a 66 coupe, im sorry. that just shows the diversity of mustang drivers in the world.

life is good

Didn't think my eyes were playing tricks on me . . . and I do think those tires could stand having a bit more tread width even if they stayed at 235 nominal section width.

So says the guy who once had 185/70's on 13 x 7's.

I'm going to buy 2 Shelby Razors in a week or two. Going to test fit them for the 67. Only cool thing is they are 16s and not the usual 18s.

I have never seen them in that size that I remember. Where are you getting them from?

I still think you should go with Bullitts.

Sidenote on curb scraping..... apologize for the large pic http://www.midnightdsigns.com/james/...eels%20001.jpg

These Toyo tires are made such that they have a rubber lip surrounding the edge of the wheel. They protect the wheel from curb rash.

When shopping for a tire, consider the sidewall design to protect your high dollar wheels.

I'm buying them from Tire Rack. They aren't under the mustang group though. Mustangs and certain year Supras run the same bolt pattern. These are for a Supra.
