Spectre Junk
So i go into Pep Boy's the other day, in search of a chrome thermosat housing, water neck, whatever you wanna call it, i figured i'd buy it against my better judgment of "spectre performance" thinking how hard could it be to f up.
Heres how you f it up
Dull Spot on literally the only part of the chrome you can even see once a rad hose is on, looked like crap.
NO clearence for the heater hose barbs on the water pump
and lastly, but definetley the last straw for me with Sprectre.
METRIC BOLTS, fail

Performance parts from Pep Boys...sorry, Fail/Facepalm. I worked there many years ago for about 3 years...I wouldn't buy performance anything from them. They can order great stuff though. But in the store...pass.

that sounds about par...I did get a nice shifter handle from them and a decent shifter boot cover for my t5 adventure. They were pretty good. I avoid any critical parts like the spectre flywheel bolts....I was holding the package then thought about how heavy the flywheel was...and that 6,000 RPM was doable...looked back at the package and the made in china label and I was like...."yo f&#k that"

I worked as a mechanic at a PepBoys as a part time gig in the AF, it was nice getting oil and stuff with a discount, and I could check my alignment for free if I was slow in the shop that day. I would never consider spectre or APC stuff for anything I own, I buy things for utility, not appearance.

Yeah, Spectre is retail crap. And to my knowledge, there is no such thing as a "quality" chrome water neck. It doesn't exist. If you want something shiny, get an aluminum unit and polish it. Just don't expect it to stay shiny.
