"Rebuilt" Air Compressor

"Rebuilt" Air Compressor
My younger son and I just finished a new compressor for 66JameStang, thought we might share a couple pics.
I converted my compressor to 3 phase so I ended up with an extra 7.5 HP motor and starter. I already had a very used 20 year old IR 5 HP compressor.
So I bought a new bare compressor from Eaton Compressor for about $300, bought a few other parts, scrapped up a few others and made Jim a new compressor.
Mitch painted it up and air brushed it up to make it more personal...

wow now that thing looks like a beast... doesn't sound too loud either.
My dad just bought a used 6.5 hp 2 stage, I'm excited to see how well it works and if it will be a huge improvement in the noise department compared to the oil-less single stage loud as hell one he's got. Thats the main reason why he got a different one... can't stand the noise. live n' learn

The pump on mine wont keep up with the DA or blaster anymore, so I have been thinking of a new pump. How hard do you run those from Eaton and how long do they last? Most places want the same money for cheap chinese built crap like I have now. Got a 22 amp 5hp motor and the tank is fine, been looking at those but not sure where I should pick one up.

My other 7.5 HP Eaton is only about a year and a half or so old, we have used it on weekends and after work up till about the last 3 months when we started using the **** out of it.
It will run 3 DA's real well, it starts loosing ground on 4. (Back up compresser kicks in at 125PSI)
So far so good on it's durability, it was sold with a 5 year "Bumper to Bumper" warantee that I have not needed.
And yea, it is a TON more quiet than the oil-less POS's....
I bought the pump direct from eaton off their website, they have the prices posted on line. They ship quick and reasonable.
I think you can run the same pump we have on 5 HP if you underdrive it. There is a lot of info about this on their site.

like I said, live n' learn haha, it's so loud that I would close the garage door when it was pumping up and just run the hose underneath... it helped a little. My dad got a good deal on it at the time and it was able to run my sandblaster, paint gun, and do anything else I needed. How much do you think we can sell it for? It's a 60 gallon Crafstman i think, and I believe 4.5 hp if memory serves correctly. its in great shape... garaged for its 3 year life.
