slamming doors

Default slamming doors

why do I have to lift and slam my doors everytime I close them? is there a fix to have a smooth closing doors?

your door pins are probably worn out...go out and pick up on the end of the door if it move up and down you need to rebuild them....

it also can just be out of adjustment too but more than likely the pins are worn since its 46 years old

Rmodel said it right. A rebuild of your door hinges couldn't hurt either. Not much money just some time.

Oh and Rmodel, that's post 10,100 for you, just noticed that, very cool, haha.

I just ordered me some springs and pins from ebay. It would not hurt to replace them.

springs and pins? Those will probably help but it really sounds like your screws or hinges need replacement. They're probably sagging from so many years of wear.

its a start, i will go with the cheapest parts then move on up from there.

The hinges wear out i have replaced a ton of them on 80s gm cars lately.

Hopefully you have better luck removing the pins than I did. I couldn't get the old ones out to save my life. I tried everything and then ended up puchasing new hinges. My doors shut very nicely now.
