Track Day Test and Tune

Track Day Test and Tune
I got the front TCP coilover suspension and Wilwood brake upgrade done Tuesday just in time to go last night to my local track for Test and Tune. I am racing in the Snap-On local race on Saturday. Here are the results. I put in 110 VP gas, which my 383 loved. I made 6 passes with various things changed such as tire pressure, launch rpm, shift rpm, etc. I almost picked up a full second over the 6 runs. I was actually down a few MPH from the last time I ran the car, but that was on street tires that would not hook up. Here are the stats from my last pull.
Reaction time: .1814 (I red lit -.006 twice so I over compensated on this run)
60ft: 1.8513
330ft: 5.1853
660ft: 7.9400 @ 89.3200mph
1000ft: 10.2940
1320ft: 12.2790 @ 113.3200mph
I was hoping to break into the 11s, but still not too shabby for a street rod.

I ran it with M/T ET Street Radials. I swap back and forth between them and the M/T Sportsman S/Rs. The ETs are just too soft to cruise on the street very long, but they are great tires and hooked pretty nice. When I run into town or around the hill country with the car, I put the S/Rs back on to save the ETs. Wednesday, I still had a little slip on the track that I would not have had with slicks. Maybe the track will be prepped better Saturday.

Saturday at the Snap-On race went pretty well. My two time trial passes were both around 12.30 at 112mph. In elimination round 1, I raced a 2011 5.0 Mustang. Man those are fast. He was running ET Streets while I was running ET Street Radials. He dialed an 11.99 while I dialed a 12.30. I had an .017 light which most guys have a hard time matching. He caught me about mid track, pulled ahead of me and just stayed there. The best part is I ran a 12.31 and forced him to break-out. Cheaters never win! He should probably have dialed low 11s...it was crazy fast. Round 2 was not so good. I had been drilling the tree all day (.01 lights), but my brake pressure was not high enough during staging and I rolled in too deep...Red Light and I was out, but I still ran a 12.32. My buddy in his 1975 Corvette went several more rounds, and raced another 2011 5.0. It too was running ET Streets and was crazy fast. Again, the driver was trying shenanigans and my buddy forced him to break out.
If your going to run street brackets, do not dial in slower than your number and hope to play the fender game. Guys will with good cars are going to send you home every time.
Fun day...can't wait to do it again. I am now saving my pennies to build out a 1992 GT Mustang bracket car. That way, I can keep my 69 on the street and have something to play with and break on the track. Plus I do not want to put a roll cage in my 69 when I get it faster than 11.49s.
