I think that more of the V8-into-sports-car swaps used the 260/289/302 though, once those engines were available. The hundred lbs difference in engine weight between those engines and a similarly configured SBC was huge when it came to maintaining any semblance of chassis balance in a car that weighed under 2000 lbs.
