Is it a Cobra Jet engine?
Trying to tell if this is the original CJ in my Q code 73 Mach 1. Eyeballing looks to be a least a Cleveland. Has the 4 cast in the head upper corner and the water jacket for the heater hose is built into the block not the manifold. What do you think?
Staggered valves.
Not sure what this cast number is in the head. Date the head was cast maybe?
The 4 cast in the head near intake indicating V4.
Heater hose/thermostat in the block.

Notes on 351C Block Casting Numbers
Be careful what you read on the internet. Boss 351s were produced with at least two different casting numbers, one of which is shared with 2-bolt main, non-Boss 351C engines of the era - casting number is DOAE-L. For the Boss 351, Ford drilled this 2-bolt block to accept 4-bolt main caps. Most DOAE-L blocks have 2-bolt main caps. For the 351-4V CJ engine, many websites will tell you that the block casting number is D2AE-CA. Indeed, every 351C-CJ I've seen used the D2AE-CA block, but I've also seen this same block in 2V 351C Torino station wagons, with 2 bolts on all five caps. Again, it's a case of Ford selectively drilling blocks to accept 4-bolt main caps. So if you find a D2AE-CA engine, remove the oil pan and inspect the main caps before purchasing it.

I think the statement above is consistent with what I said.
Form the Boss 351 Registry:
Boss 351 block cast numbers
Cylinder Block:
Ford part Number
D1ZZ-6009-D
Block stamped number
DOAE-L
The Earliest Date code you will find a for a stock engine would be April 1970 that would be" D "
All boss blocks that were installed in cars were DOAE the nest casting was D2ae this is one year after the cars were built . No boss 351 had screw in freeze plugs and the two bolt blocks were no weeker than the boss blocks . We were told for a matching numbers block it needed to be with in 6 weeks of the build date of the car. The D1ZE-a or D1ZE-B was a part number stamped into the blocks a long with the build date. some people confuse this with the casting number.
