Did you have to roll your fenders. Like I said my neighbors got a 77 with wheels sticking out all factory and has no problems

As I said above, I been there done that.
Make sure you got good ride height, stiff shocks & springs, and watch having people in the back seat. I never had problems until I had people in the back.
As I said above, you just got becareful with this set up.

No. Just make sure you got good shocks and springs and get your ride height up high.

Dodgestang I know you probably have way more experience in this then me but my neighbor has a 1977 Cougar with wide tires that stick out like that and has never been a problem.
Yes it is done all the time.
Long shackels, air shocks, etc...

Handling goes to ****, the over all ride deteriorates, traction suffers, and if you do it with air shocks you run the risk of poke through.

dodgestang-

You'll be happy to know that I purchased a 8" 66' rear end outta of a fastback last night for $150.00. The 68' and 66' have the same drums and shoes so what I plan to do is leave it the way it is and after a series of tests if its problematic I'll throw in the 66' rear end. This 66' has a much more desirable gear then my 68'.

Good buy. So;unds like an afternoon of work to have a better overall experience. It will look better to with the tires inside the fender wall.

dodgestang-

15X8 rears with 4.5" back spacing and 15x7 fronts with 4.5" backspacing should work fine on the 66 set up correct?

15x8 4.5 bs is fine. 15x7 4.5 backspacing on the front doesn't work because of hard interference with the upper a arm. I though/assumer the 15x7 would be 4.25?

They probably are 4.25bs I assumed which we know never to do! They were on a 66' fastback when I bought them so they should work out fine. Thanks again for your help
