Default My 1971 Mach 1

All, I started a blog about my 1971 Mach 1 a year or two ago. I am making very slow but somewhat steady progress. Right now my focus is upgrading the suspension using the roller kits on upper and lower control arms from Open Tracker Racing, and the roller spring perch mod from Daze.

Pictures and some thoughts are here:

I'm new to this blogging thing, so the format and readability are not what I want, but you can at least follow along for a bit.

Happy building!

Looks pretty good so far but btw you don't do a Shelby drop on a 71-73 car ford already lowered the upper a arm started in 71.Ford also changed to a gm style steering box in 71 so you can have yours rebuild to any ratio easy.If you want some billet parts for it look at http://www.eddiemotorsports.com/ for normal parts http://www.ohiomustang.com/ has a lot.

Thanks Andrew!

I did discover through this forum and other sources that the 71 - 73 series already had the Shelby drop done at the factory. I guess I should close that thought on my blog, huh? :-)

Thanks for the links on the steering box. My original was gushing fluid, so I replaced it with a rebuilt unit I bought from Pep Boys, of all places. I was wondering if I could change the ratio. I might do so later.

I've added more to my blog. The fabrication of the lower control arms is done, and I have started reassembly of the front suspension.
