Default mach 1 airbags deployed

Hey whats up guys... im looking at picking up an 03 Mach for a daily driver. It has 48k on it with a tune, shifter, intake and cat back. A kid that i know from school owns it and he said he bought it off of the original owner bone stock. However, the said the original owner bumped into a pole while parking it (those yellow cement poles at the end of a parking spot) and it cracked the bumper and deployed the air bags. He said it was a freak accident and the title is clean (not salvaged)...he's asking 14 and change for it. what do you guys think? The airbag thing rubs me the wrong way a little...am I overacting? or should i pass?

Thanks All

How long has your friend had the car and why is he looking to part with it?

If the airbags deployed most insurance companies will just total it out. So if he didn't report it to insurance and fixed it himself there is no telling what else could have gone wrong.

I wouldn't buy a car that has had the airbags deployed.

I wouldn't buy the car at all if i did its for parts,For the air bags to blow it takes a pretty hard hit not just a bump in the parking lot.

+1 I was thinking the same thing. It should show up on a car fax. I don't think he's being dishonest. I am thinking its the same line of crap he was fed. Friends and business don't usually mix.

If you really want it have a body shop put it on their table see if the body is still straight. And have them take off the back bumper see if the metal under it looks normal or banged up.I won't lie i like the 03/04 mach 1 its kinda a cobra with out the body and looks like a normal mustang. And i love the seats in them they look like a early mustang.

14 and change as in 1400$ or 14000$??? no way id pay 14k for a mach1 that been wrecked when you can have a high mileage cobra or a salvage cobra for that...

he's asking 14,500 for it. 48,500 miles. The carfax shows the accident and says that it "hit the building" but he says it hit the parking pillar. idk...i think im going to go with my gut and just pass on it. The last thing i need is a daily driver that's full of problems (like my grand cherokee is now haha)...having one mustang is good enough for me. now im looking at rubicons...i think that'd be a fun daily driver!
