Default I just bought a 428 off of craigslist omg....

I have been thinking about what "Urban Cowboy" said about a year ago about opting for a bigger motor than getting a forced induction system. I really wasn't in the market for a new motor, my 302 has about 25k miles on it right now and it sports the Edlebrock Performer RPM package. It's ran awesome for four years after I blew the 289 that came with the car....Also, living in Hawaii you're not apt to see any good deals. I was actually looking on craigslist for a blow by, mechanical secondaries carb and came across an add for a 428 police interceptor motor. I went out to see it and fell in love.

I'm going to take the rest of it apart and send it to a machine shop here to fix it up. It's already been bored over .030, I can go up to 40 or 60 with these right? I hope so...it's been sitting for a while and the cylinder walls are rusty.

That's in rough shape, the crank case looks good tho, but a rare find indeed. Definitely in need of hot tanking.
A FE series big block is definitely "heavy metal", not a cheap engine to build, but there's no replacement for displacement.
Can you get the pistons out? Or is it seized?
I hope it cleans up well for you. Mind if we ask how much it cost?
That is an odd looking harmonic ballancer, I don't remember them being so small?? Do you know what year the engine is? Maybe an earlier model?

The 428 crank is balanced internally from what I've been told.

James, when i saw this on facebook, my jaw dropped. So are you going to just keep the 302 for rainy days? That thing is a beast already, the 428 is just crazy!
