Default Yipes! Stripes! Shelby GT350

I'm really wanting to dress up my all white '97 Cobra convertible with some blue stripes like the '66 Shelby GT350. Can one of you classic Mustang guys give me the stripe pattern dimensions? If you know what they called that color of blue, that would be appreciated too.

In 66 it was called Guardsman Blue. The measurement of the strips at the front of the hood is 9 1/4" extending to 10 1/2" at the cowl. At the top of the windshield is 10 1/2" down to 10 3/8" at the top of the back window. And a constant 10" from the bottom of the rear window on. The distance between the strips is a constant 2".

My .02 - You might want to consider the modern shelby for the stripe measurements as the vintage dimensions might not look right on your car.

Thank you very much. I think I'm gonna go with one of the vinyl stripe kits from American Muscle. 10" with 2" between the stripes. If I don't like it, off they come. If I really like it, I'll have em painted on. I know that will mean sanding and clear coating the whole car, but I can have any imperfections fixed and then have 4 or 5 clear coats applied at the same time.

Are you going to do the badging? I was think about doing something similar, but was worried about catching flak over a clone.

FWIW Shelby was not the first to use those stripes, he kinda stole the idea, even the colors.

As far as catching flack, I say do what you like. It's your car.

By the time Shelby started using strips, they were being used by plenty of other manufactures. Probably since the birth of racing.

I'm thinking I'll leave the Cobra badging and just add the stripes. For side stripes I'm going with the word "Mustang" . I thought about Cobra or GT350 but decided against it.

Flak was a concern.

Man that's what some people say, but... I was just thinking a cool tribute the CS, maybe a GT350. But haven't ever pulled the trigger.
