Default 1971 Mach-1 Specification Question?

I think this is way I should be asking... Excuse a non-technical guy.

Is the intake for a four-barrel aluminum or cast-iron?

Most factory intakes are cast iron, but there are a few exceptions.

90% of the factory ones were cast iron. 90% of the aftermarket ones are aluminum.

I just spoke to my guy and gave him all the information you-all provided. He is pondering the information... Will do some pricing and get back to me.

In chatting the subject of exhaust(s) has started... He reports single… I want dual. What determined single vs. dual on a 1971?

Mach 1's should of came with dual from the factory, my 72 did..... Running a single on a car like that would restrict it's air flow a lot and that would cause a huge lose in horse power.

They sell reproduction ram air kits for the Mach's.

It sounds like you need a new mechanic. Definitely dual exhaust. Run at LEAST 2.5" pipes to give that Cleveland room to breathe.

As for the NACA hood intake, you'll need the hood, plenum, and base assembly for the air cleaner that accepts it.

I see vacuum pods on the hood-intake... Need to be connected to?

Yeah the Ram Air works off the vacuum secondaries, which also pipe into the air cleaner. I actually have the schematics for all it's connections. Least I think I still have them I will have to dig though my files on my computer when I get home to day.

Got all my ram air stuff here: http://www.ohiomustang.com/store/ord...sp?itemid=2030
