Default 64 1/2 value

So, A guy a few blocks over has a 64 1/2 260 for sale (has an aftermarket alternator, Weiand intake and four barrel Holley on it of unknown cfm)

No idea of mileage, has a hole in the driver's side floor, but other wise the body looks pretty, sort of ok. Despite a crappy paint job. Looks like all metal, anyway.

Brakes are gone; the M/C lid is rusted through, and he admits the brakes don't work.

I'll try to get some pics. Guy is asking $8000, but he emphasizes that's his STARTING price.

I have no idea what these are worth any more.

I'd pass on that one myself. Bound to be rust issues you can't see until you start taking it apart. It'd have to be a decent driver for me to drop that kind of coin on it.

You know, Mustangs rust so fast here, but perceived values are stupid high. I just do not get it. Everyone wants the world for their stuff.

$8k should buy you a fully functioning good-looking coupe. Maybe it's not showroom, but still nice.

I am not aware that a 64.5 carries with it such value over a regular 65. Personally I like a regular alternator over a generator any day.

The rust issues seem extensive by your description.

If this was a fastback or a convertible, I would MAYBE negotiate a much lower price...but in this case, I would pass on it all together.

Holes in the floor on 1 side.. Guaranteed there are many more rusted holes you don't see. I'd replace the breaks anyways. As has been said 8k the guys in stanglust county! It's worth maybe 1500$ from what you say. If your set on it 2k at most if you have a garage, tools and the know how to do a major resto.

Been there.. Done that! Look else where would be my advice.
