I am a new member, have visited often but would not join because I did not have a Mustang at present. I owned a 66 convert as my first car in 70 and a 65 a few years later. with the kids all moved on I decided to purchase a 66 coupe that I ran across. It is a nice car, good cond and new interior.
My problem as is concerns the VIN. I purchased this car from a local investigator for the Sherriff Dept. it was her brothers and he was killed in 05 after working on car. been in shop and covered all these years. ok my problem is I purchased the car with a report run in my presence by the DEPT with the NCIC. the car came back not stolen and no lein. I plan to keep this car and it must have had some replacement before painting because door and driver fender vin not matching the report vin. if my plans are to keep and do some minor customizing then this is not a real problem except to me is it. thanks for any input.

What VIN did you use to run the report if its different than one the fenders? If it was from the title, then I wouldn't worry about it. As you said, it's very possible the fenders and door have been replaced. The car is almost 50 years old. A lot can happen in 50 years.
Since you're not doing a full on restore (like for show/competition) I wouldn't worry about the VINs. No one will care. But, I will say thanks for restoring it. Another special car will be saved. They ain't growin' any more of 'em.

thanks I was able to get a tag with a little trouble, like to have never made a young Trooper understand about replacing parts. Thanks for the message makes me feel better about my find. hope to post photo soon. just learning my way around here but have learned a great amount.
