I am building a 71 Mach 1 429scj clone. I have seen a lot of Mach 1s with Crome front bumpers and a lot with painted front bumpers . Which one is correct. Was this an option?

The standard bumper on all 71-72 Mustangs was chrome. The urethane bumper was part of several option packages including the Mach 1 option. 71 Boss 351's had a chrome front bumper.

For a 71 Mach 1 429 scj clone you will need a 71/72 urethane front bumper. They are fairly rare to find for sale in good condition.
