Default 1965 Mustang Fuel Problems

Need help. I have 1965 Mustang 289 with a 2bbl carb. Car has been sitting for about 5 years. I replaced gas tank, blew out fuel lines replaced fuel pump and carb. When I pulled fuel pump, arm was in the up position , I put new one in the same way with no hassles.Tried starting car with fuel can with hose to fuel pump and other end into bottle to see if fuel was flowing thru pump. put finger against end of fuel line and don't feel any pressure or fuel coming out. I have a clear inline filter in line and don't see any fuel passing thru filter either . Any Ideas

You don't need the pump in the engine to test it. Put inlet hose in can, outlet back to can and just move the arm up and down. If fuel spurts out the outlet the pump works. Make sure you have the correct pump as the arm rides against a cam like lobe to move it up and down.
If the pump works when out of the car but not when in the car, outlet hoses connected, probably a plugged or stuck float valve. Outlet hose not connected, probably wrong pump.
