Default New fan/rad combo

As you may have read in the other thread, I'm rebuilding my '65's engine and also need a new fan and radiator. Ideally I'd like a good 4-row rad and electric fan. I found these on Summit Racing, anyone have any experience with them? Or, is there a different combo anyone recommends?

4-row radiators are generally a gimmick. For your application, a good 3-row should allow more airflow and heat transfer than a 4-row. If you have cooling concerns, look at a either widening your radiator support opening (I think Mustang Steve has an article on that) or getting a good 2-row aluminum radiator with 3/8" tubes.

That fan won't flow enough to replace a stock mechanical fan. I believe you need something like 2000CFM or more. Used Taurus or MkVII fan assemblies are common in junkyards and are often modified to work in classics. They come with a shrouded housing that helps improve airflow.

As an alternative, you may consider a clutch fan. I love mine. It's nice and quiet most of the time, unlike the flex fan it replaced, and it doesn't rob as much horsepower as a straight mechanical fan.

I really liked my norther direct fit Al radiator. It worked quite well for many years. Its probably still good just needs to be cleaned out.
