Thanks. I love driving down the street, and hearing young kids say "cool car". Most of the Mustang IIs were gone before the 90s due to accident or rust, so a lot of kids have never seen one. I purchased my second II in '02, first one was back in '78. I now have 2 fastbacks(hatchbacks), and only know of 2 other Mustang IIs within 25 to 30 miles from where I live. As I drive mine almost daily, everybody knows my car.

Here is a pic of my II just after I bought it. Yes it needs paint, but it's almost 31 years old.

That car gives me wood ! The white with gold cars are very nice ..........BUT , the red with gold trim cars are the bomb diggity ! Just my humble and slightly demented opinion. Dean

For those who want to bash the II -- here are my 2 cents.

I own 2 of these, both are '78 Ghia's. Have you even looked at ebay lately? Yes, you can pick up a Mustang II cheaper than the other shelby's, etc., but the pricing on these cars have nearly doubled in a just a couple of years. It is not uncommon to pay over $10,000 for one on Ebay. One of the '78s I have owned since '79. And it has been my daily driver. The other '78 I purchased last July. Now I can tell you from my own experience that my first '78 - with a stock 302 V-8 in it and auto transmission - BEAT Corvettes in '79. So like another poster said, none of the cars during that time had the power that they do today. But realistically, look at how much hp you get in todays cars. I've got a Ford rebuilt 302 in my '78 that has 200 HP - and that along with the lighter body will still outrun some of the newer cars today - STOCK. Parts have become easier to find than they used to, and the value is going up on them.

I personally have rarely had anyone come up and snub me on my car. One fellow Mustanger did at a local car show last year - he said "I always thought those were the ugliest cars." I was appalled! I know a lot of people don't care for them, but really - if you can't say something nice - then keep you pie hole shut! Ironically, I placed higher than he did at the car show.

Bottom line -- it is your decision whether to buy a Mustang II or not. But if you like it and have the money to buy it - you will enjoy driving it. And if it weren't for these little Mustang II's there would not have been any Mustangs after that!

The mustang 2 is without a doubt the ugliest and biggest POS Mustang ever made. I'd be ashamed to drive one of those around. They are worth more as PARTS cars then they deserve to be for a normal car.
