69 302 2v upgrade questions
I just recently purchased a 69 coupe w/ 302 2v and auto trans. the car ran, but not very well and the carb was leaking fuel so I pulled off the carb and proceded to rebuild it (first time ever doing that). After I finished I decided to pull the intake manifold off and clean it (the entire engine is horribly dirty). I soon discovered that the intake manifold appears to be leaking oil on the under side. Since I have to replace the intake manifold, I figure this gives me a good excuse to upgrade. Now my question, what should I replace it with? I see that Edelbrock offers plenty of choices, but I don't know what is right for my car. I'd like to get the most bang for my buck. Do I need to replace the 2b carb w/ a 4b? Do I need new headers? cam?
Also, I pulled of the factory exhaust headers and would like to upgrade them as well. Do I need shorties, long, or y headers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: 69 302 2v upgrade questions
Edelbrock makes a kit for 302's called "Performer Ford 302 c.i.d. Power Package" or something like that, good for RPM of Idle-5500. Comes with intake, matching cam, carb and add a set of headers and a stock 302 is making over 320HP. Add a set of high flow Edelbrock heads and now you are over 365HP out of a 302.
As for the headers, I personaly love the Tri-y headers, Carrol Shelby used them so thats good enough for me.
