Default '67 vs. '68 heads

hey all
i just found out recently that ford reduced the power of the stock 289 from 67 to 68. Do the stock 289 cylinder heads differ between the two years? thanks.

'67 289 had a choice of heads, 2V or 4V. In '68 they only offered a 2V as the 4V was now used on the 302 engine. As far as do they differ, I beleive '68 was the first year of smog equipment, so the horsepower ratings dipped a bit.

what are the benefits of the 4v over the 2v? do the 2v heads limit the power that i can get out of my engine?

I dont think there was much difference in the heads, not enough to make a noticeable power improvement.

If you want power, you might look into either a set of 351 heads, or possibly some aftermarket cast iron heads, like Rousch for example.
