Default Engine compartment detailing

i have my radiator, alternator/ generator, spark plug wires and radiator hoses off. how do u paint the engine? how do u take off the carborator? do i need a torque wrench to set the bolts on the carborator to a certain weight? is taking off the manifold a big deal? will my local auto store have all the gaskets i need? what are the common mistakes people make when taking apart the engine (not rebuilding it)?

Thanks

Default RE: Engine compartment detailing

Hey captain muscles (salute), one of the first things I would suggest is go on eBay and buy a "shop manual" for your year mustang. You can get a used one for around $20. VERY informative, not about painting the engine, but everything else you asked about. You'll learn alot just paging through it. Restoration books are out there also that spell things out step by step, hopefully someone can reccomend a good one for you. Good Luck.(salute)
