Wheels on my '67

Wheels on my '67
I know that the '67s have a stock 14" 4 lug wheel, but like most, I want to change my wheels. Eventually i plan to change the backend to a 5 lug when i change the engine and transmission, but for now i want to keep it simple and realtively inexpensive.
Can anyone answer me this...
How big of a wheel can i put on it before needing spacers? Not just in diameter, but also in width. I am not talking about putting nasty 20's on it. I just find it easier to find 16 and 17 inch wheels with 4 lug than anything. For some strange reason, people with civics like to get new wheels...i dont exactly know why[:'(]
sorry if i disapoint anyone who thinks i should keep it original...im young and stupid, what can i say?
thanks guys

fox....take it easy there, what you choose to do to your stang is up to you. you may be young but doesn't mean your stupid for asking a question or wanting something different. do you have a "discount tire" in your area? the one in chicago has alot of stock and will roll them up to your car so you can invision the look....pretty good service if you ask me.

I definitely agree with you there. One thing i cant stand is classic cars with massive wheels. I live in daytona and there are quite a few of old school impalas and such with 22's and intense audio systems.
I am not actually that young, i just wanted to use that as an excuse for not staying original. I have a lot of respect for you guys who are keeping an american classic alive.

honestly, 20's look like crap on a vinage Stang, anything bigger than 16's looks odd to me

and this is what make us unique! It would be quite boring if we all drove the came model color and year of car........

Here's a pic of what I have. Not exactly what I was envisioning for myself, but a decent trade-off in my mind (in a similar situation as you). However, I don't have immediate plans to upgrade to 5 lugs.

How long are you looking at before you do your swap? American Racing has a set of wheels (14" 4 lug) that you can pick up 4 for $300. Seen a lot on trucks, I know... Outlaw Series II. Also, Not sure what your definition of inexpensive is.

in my first go around of rebuild...meaning body work, basic interior and tune ups of the engine and brakes...i was hoping to spend about 7 grand, if im lucky including paint. In the grand scheme of things, my goal budget is about 10,000...but as im am sure all of you know is very low for a quality rebuild. It will probably be draining me of closer to 15-17k.
Basically i plan to make it nice and road worthy...then I plan to make it mine.
Here is one of my many begining pics
