Mine has done that since the day I got it back from restoration. After 3 weeks in the body shop, I picked it up today and it runs like a brand new car. The hesitation was bad but at 55 the car began shaking. I'd give it gas in a parking lot and it would stall out.

Turns out the carb was rebuilt incorrectly and I had to pay to have it done again. The hole for the port for the vacuum was drilled in the wrong place, the something or other inside the carb was bent and the something else was all clogged (sorry, the names escape me right now). They apparently did a swap-out and gave me back a bad carb. Now I need to go after them to get back my original carb.

Anyway, this is also why my brakes didn't work for the first minute or two when I drove the car -- it was putting out too much vacuum and the something was open all the time (I'm tired, don't yell, I just can't think right now).

Had problem with mine also. New fuel pump, new fuel lines, new carb, timing set high as I could gt with bogging starter. Ruled out fuel. Changed distrib to MSD ready to run and put on flamethrower coil. Still some hesitation when cold but once warmed up it is fine now

The mechanic actually had some issues with finding the right carburator. He ended up sending two back in a row. It's definitely possible that the wrong one was used. Does anyone one know exactly what carborator should be used on a 1970 v8 302 2 barrel?

get the book titled Haynes TECHBOOK, Holley Carburetor Manual....got mine from Murrays for $15.00. Book # is 10225. It goes over what type of carb you need for your specific need. Your plan needs to be made in advance before you buy your carb. Are you sticking with a 2 barrel? Adding headers? Straight pipes?....don't spend the money on a new carb until that is figured out, cause you might have to buy a different setup again. The book is goes into great detail about how carbs work, rebuilding carbs and so forth. Worth the money.

same with my 65 289. I have a carter 600 cfm and it was getting to much fuel. I had to back off the fuel by adjusting the jets. I would just back off a quarter turn at a time till it went away.
