Default is this true?

i heard from an old car nut legend today ,that the 1964-65 i6 mustang is the best mustang body mustang ever made for drag racing because it was the lightest car mustang has ever made , he started talking to me about one 65 mustang i6 framed car that was never beaten beacause it was so light and it had some isane motor...i was in shock but it seems logical

the 6 and 8 are the same car except for the drive trains the later cars and cougars have a longer wheel base and transfer weight better than a 65-66

The 1965-66 coupes are the lightest Mustangs ever made. They weigh 2556 lbs. A 2006 Mustang is a whopping 3450lbs---that's a difference of 894 lbs!

Even if that is true then you still have to put those v8 parts on the I6 car for it to make it down the track in one piece.

lighter then every other year? yes, the 64-66 were the lightest. absolute best for drag racing? now thats a matter of opinion. i honestly would take a well tuned 351C in a 67-73 over the 289 of a 64-66.

I think he's talking about what body would be better for drag racing. Since drag cars don't use stock engines the 65-66 could be fitted with anything.

You can drop even a 429 big block in a 65-66 with surgery.
